Politicians are as short sighted as CEOs. A Congressman wants to be elected for this 2-year term. A Congressman wants to spend money now, and let the next guy pay for it. A Congressman wants to run against Washington when it looks like that's what the voters want. Long term strategy doesn't matter much.
