I just learned that. Stick an asterisk beside that, too. Lift, clean and place is not golf. It's entertainment for the fans that would rather see birdies, than mud balls flying all over the place. They could allow lift and clean, setting the ball on a tee for every shot and rolling the putt line with a rolling pin and you still would rarely see a 59. There is a reason it has happened so rarely even with not uncommon lift and clean conditions.

I am not going to asterisk anscore below 60. You still have hit it close and make the putts. A 17 year old kid shot 57 this past week, and Ishikawa shot a 58. I don't care that they were on courses only 6700 yards long. That is still golfing your ball. By the way, if the course Duval shot a 59 on was so easy, why weren't all of the golfers shooting 59? Big deal. I shot 59 yesterday. Of course I had several holes left to play at the time. Randy

I remember doing play-by-play of that round. After about the 14th hole, I said, "He could shoot 59." Everybody thought I was nuts. Randy |
