You're wrong on every count. The recession you say he got us out of
started in 1981. He did not reduce government spending, he increased
it. He exacerbated the budget deficit by increasing spending and
cutting taxes. These two things directly violated his two principal
campaign promises -- to balance the budget and reduce the size of
government. He was one of many players in the downfall of the Soviet
Union. It would have collapsed even if he'd never been born.
