From: Paul Schmitz-Josten on 18 May 2007 03:43 Dear friends, I'm still full of memories of our great weekend at Hawkstone Park. Therefore, it would be a pleasure for me to fulfill my promise and host you on a golf weekend in my country. Here are my ideas: There is a direct connection from Nuremberg to Stansted with www.airberlin.de, and on their homepage I found as an example: From Sat Sept. 15th to Tue Sept 18th the flight price to date is 140 / 95 GBP (a golf bag up to 20 kg is free of charge). These prices are rising, though... Connection flights from Manchester, Glasgow and Belfast may be available. The schedule brings you to Nuremberg in the morning and back home in the evening. That leaves almost four days for golf, leisure and sightseeing. There is a nice hotel 50 km from Nuremberg, close to several interesting golf courses. <http://www.winkler-braeu.de/index01.html> A three night arrangement including (continental but buffel) breakfast and one dinner is available from 147 / 100 GBP per person in a double room. A similar two night arrangement will cost from 116 / 80 GBP up. They offer reduced greenfees (not included), so each round will cost about 30-50 / 20-35 GBP. I would have to arrange transport, but that's not too big a problem. The group size is not limited, both to the low and high side. Both dates and accomodation are examples which may be changed on agreement. We might stay in Nuremberg with 4 18-hole courses and 2 9-hole courses around. We might also go to Regensburg (100 km from Nuremberg, by train?), a nice historic town with two golf courses (one of them being my local favourite) plus others in easy reach, or to a lake area 60 km from Nuremberg with three other courses around. Ciao, Paul

From: Paul Schmitz-Josten on 18 May 2007 17:49 I should have said something more because the self-presentation of these courses isn't so convincing sometimes. All these courses are parkland courses in more or less undulating landscape. >Three around the before-mentioned Hotel: Herrnhof is charming because it is quiet, in a broad ascending valley. Quite open fairways, sometimes framed by woods, a bit old-fashioned design. >http://www.golfclub-herrnhof.de/ => Platz => select the individual holes Habsberg: A breathtaking modern Graham Marsh design with about 90 bunkers, quite open, slightly sloping. >http://www.juragolf.de/content/habsberg.asp The king of all courses here >(scroll down and click on the hole numbers on the scorecard) Hilzhofen: A bit more hilly and partly with more trees. This combination guarantees some challenging holes. Sometimes crowded. >http://www.juragolf.de/content/hilzhofen.asp (same here) >Three around the lake area: Abenberg: Through the woods, mostly flat, a variety of different holes. >http://www.golfclub-abenberg.de/cms/front_content.php?idcat=114 Zollmhle: Front nine hilly, back nine in a creek's valley, some long holes with water in play, especially the last one: 609 yd (not the longest one) twice crossed by the creek! Three ladies are responsible for this course, creating a very friendly atmosphere. >http://www.golfanlage-zollmuehle.de/ => Golfanlage => 18 Loch...
