From: Robert Hamilton on 3 Aug 2006 10:11 I went from the BOM to the Bangenstein as a tribute to the USGA. The BOM has a PL Blue 75 S flex in it and the Bangenstein has an Evo R flex. I couldn't hit the broad side of the driving range with the BOM. Totally gruesome! That solid feel and solid hit the Bangenstein makes has become engrained in my psyche, I suppose! The most memorable thing was how light the BOM felt. Glad I got the 75 instead of the 65 if I ever try to use it again. FWIW the Evo R flex plays a lot stiffer than the PL Blue S flex.
From: Rick on 3 Aug 2006 12:25 IMO, its not the clubhead - its the shaft that you are more comfortable with. I have two BOM's with two different shafts - one I like and the other I don't. I have to be very grateful to Accuflex for coming out with a sturdy nanotechnology in the 80 buck price range. The Bangenstein head is a lot more sturdy than the BOM though, in the way it sounds anyways.

My first one performed optimally and as expected, with real zing off the clubface and true high COR distance. Unfortunately an annoying rattle developed which I was unwilling to attempt to fix myself during the warranty period.....so the head was replaced under warranty with another of the same specs. That second head has NEVER worked properly! Perhaps yours is from the same batch! On the other hand the Bangenstein head features noticeably in the bags of the LDA champions. Mr Almo must have got it right with this one! I'm interested in yours, specs, loft, club length, swingweight etc? I've recently noted that the LDA have the same size and COR limitations as are dictated by the R&A and USGA (460cc and 0.830) ....and the max. length of 50" although measured differently, equates to the 48" limit imposed by the RoG. Now, those guys are almost getting close to RSG distances with their Bangensteins....they MUST be good! cheers david

THe SW might change a tad with the Star Grip. |
