It wasn't like you had to be a genius to lay up on 18 after the Havret
missed his birdie putt. Actually I thought Havret had the steadiest game
of all of the leaders; he just didn't win because he started back too far
from the lead. But no meltdown from McDowell on any hole, and he deserved
to win.

It was unbelievable how EVERY downhill putt slipped by long, and EVERY
uphill putt was left short. I guess all these greens are on a huge tilt,
one direction or another. Are there other courses where the greens have
this severe of slopes?

Umm, not particularly.

I picked a golfer to win. I guess we were both right by those standards.

I observed to others watching the tournament, that McDowell wasn't
going to lose the US Open. Someone else had to win it. Els almost
did, but McDowell did what he needed to do, steady and safe.

I was rooting for the Irishman over the Frenchman. His victory interview
was heeelarious. Of course, had he been a stuff shirt like another Brit I
know, different story.

A Brit? Does that mean he's a protestant?
