There was an incorrect answer on the quiz-masters pages that we didn't need to resolve at the time because we won without the two points, but we did determine with the quiz-master later on that we had given the correct answer. Interestingly, there was a second incorrect answer in the second semi-final that did need to be corrected on the spot. Glen had a bit of a bad night. They disputed one of the two round two questions that they got wrong. IMO they were wrong in disputing it because they had given an incorrect answer. This possibly disturbed them, because they went on to get a round three question wrong, which is most unusual. They also got a question wrong in rounds one and four. It was probably for the best that they didn't lose by just two points and thus make the disputed answer a critical issue. Anyway, as in the past, they were good company in the bar afterwards. For their sins the Lahinch team got to play the Old Course backwards on Monday courtesy the R&A. It was quite an experience playing the course this way, and one I was very glad not to miss.

This will be a function of the double greens and double fairways, with only a few holes (those with a single green) perhaps seeming strange. AIUI, the course was originally laid out to be played clockwise, but is now almost exclusively played anti-clockwise, apart from a few days per year. -- "Famous last words - You and what army?"

Students then (and still do AFAIK), get concessionary rates on all the St Andrews courses and he tells me it plays better 'backwards' as more of the bunkering gets in the way! Not that he took that much advantage of it of course as he is such a diligent person and dedicated to his work - which is obviously why he plays off H/c 3 :-) -- Durram
