Main Entry: slav·ery
Pronunciation: \ˈslā-v(ə-)rē\
Function: noun
Date: 1551
1 : drudgery, toil
2 : submission to a dominating influence
3 a : the state of a person who is a chattel of another b : the
practice of slaveholding

Will I not end up in shackles if I refuse to turn over the fruits of
my labor to the federal government? I think entry no. 2 describes this
predicament quite well.

When the government confiscates your labor, regardless of the form of
that labor, it is enslaving you to the state.

If taxes were voluntary then there would no talk about being enslaved to
the state for a portion of or all of your labor.

You may want to wait until morning. I don't think Billy has to teach any
classes this afternoon, if you know what I mean...
