My folks had an exchange student from Mexico when I was in college. I
talked with her and she told me how much she envied my younger
brothers. Why? Because they were allowed to work - and had money
to spend the way they wanted to.

She said that in Mexico, the poor kids had to work, the well-off kids
weren't allowed to work.

How many of us screwed up a high-school job or two before we learned
how to work? Screw-ups that don't show up as gaps on our resumes?

They had a plan that could have passed until their right wing yelled
"amnesty" over and over again.

The Democrats now have a tougher plan, but the Republicans are united
against it - as they are united against anything they don't want the
Democrats to get credit for.

Ok, great! You're getting it. Now just to widen the scope a bit, we can
include the food industry in general. Housing, manufacturing... Aw hell,
let's just quadruple the cost of everything.

The high standard of living that we enjoy is due in part to the
availability of a large pool of cheap labor. It isn't economically
practical to kick them all out. Your party will see to it that it never
happens anyway. You do know this, right?

Here's my comprehensive immigration reform package.

1. Completely seal off the border and provide enough border control
agents to stop almost all illegal aliens from entering the country.

2. Make it impossible for anyone who entered the nation illegally to
ever become a US citizen.

3. Children born to illegal aliens in the US are not US citizens.

4. Immediate deportation of anyone caught in the US illegally.

5. No taxpayer funded benefits of any kind for illegal aliens or
their children.

6. Heavy fines and jail terms for any company employing illegal
aliens.

7. Begin a guest worker program to provide a legal alien workforce.

That's pretty comprehensive.
