From: AS on 14 Oct 2009 13:34 It is increasingly popular for players to draw a horizontal line on their ball, often just increasing the one placed there by the manufacturer, to assist in aligning putts. Teeing off at a Union event, a player was advised by the starter that it was against the rules for this line to extend 360 degrees round the ball. I can find no rule or decision; anyone else? That is because there isn't a rule or decision, and the starter was talking rubbish. Furthermore, if he wasn't an authorised member of the Committee then this is none of his business anyway! cheers david

To be fair to the old fella, since the ball in question was not so marked, this was by way of passing the time until the tee was clear, not a case of interferin' ! AS
