You introduced the subject of athletic performance and bringing the

You really don't have a clue, do you, about the ethics of scholarship?
No one makes "bets", it is all out in the open. I don't hide behind some
on line name, for example, like you do. I expect Rob, as an academic,
not to claim he has published where he clearly has not, and to be open
about it. If he can't be trusted to tell the truth about his
publications, then none of their content can be trusted either.
