Especially with just about everything closed, there was no place to go. Most of the major roads were not plowed nor were the side streets. We have traffic cameras all over the place. http://www.trafficland.com/city/WAS/?rsid=weatherbug Besides Columbus doesn't look like it got hit too hard, looks like a dusting. Once I got home on Friday at 1:30 PM I didn't go anywhere in a vehicle until Monday at 10:00 AM. I've been living in the DC area for 38 years and I know what it is like because we get idiots like you from all over the country. Every two years a new crop of idiot drivers shows up and every four years an even bigger crop of idiot drivers shows up. If you think you can drive in snow or if you come from some place that gets lots and lots of snow it doesn't mean you know how to drive in DC when we have snow. I will give you a hint about living in the DC area. Live in a neighborhood that has lots of police officers. In my previous neighborhood we were always plowed within 12.

A dusting is all it takes with the standard of driving in these parts. You seem to forget that I am a European, and they tend to be better drivers to start with. I used to rally cars when I was a student, so I actually enjoy the snow and ice. It is the morons around me that scare me to death - you know. outside lane, 25mph, blabbing on the cell phone. > > I will give you a hint about living in the DC area. Yes, unfortunately we were right beside the Pentagon, which I would have thought would be a high priority. But the Metro shut down, so there was no way to get across the river. Eventually I gave up on the airlines and rented a car and drove home. Once I got to Rockville area, the roads were completely clear and dry, and it was like that all the way back to Columbus. And almost no traffic.

It's snowing heavily right now, a foot of snow on the ground...over ice...and we have 30MPH winds to boot...and I am at work...between lectures right now! Perhaps it's just urban, public schools that are off for these sorts of things.
