OK, I have never been to Augusta, and am proud to say I have a
benefactor taking me on Saturday this year.

Can you guys that have been down before give me some ideas on what to
expect?

We plan to be there early and walk the course, but I'd like to know
what you guys have done while there, such as where to sit on Amen
corner, etc.

Any constructive hints would be appreciated. (This may eliminate
Annika right off the bat...) :)

TIA

The thing I remember is the stark contrast between "outside the club"
and inside. Augusta is a working class, rough and tumble town. The
road outside the club is crowded with retail and fast foot joints.
Then, when you walk into the club somehow you go through some
space/time portal and wind up in an amazingly green and quiet place.

The elevation change is something else you'll notice. Some of those
holes are really damn hilly. It's quite amazing.

Have fun while you are there. This year should be quite a zoo.

Thanks John! I am school girl giddy about getting to see the place
for the first time.

My advice would be to resist the temptation to go straight to the back
nine. The best way to walk the course is to walk the holes in order.
Start on #1, and walk the holes 1 thru 18, in order, without skipping
any. Take your time. Pay particular attention to the various
undulations in the fairways and greens. You'll never get as good a
look at them on TV (until you invest in a 3D TV).

Oh, and don't forget to walk the little par three course. You'll come
away feeling their par three course beats the hell out of any of your
local golf courses (because it does).

By the way, of all the regular stops on TOUR, the swag available at The
Masters is, by far, the most reasonably priced. Definitely make a trip
to the swag store. (Same thing is true of the food and drink. They
don't gouge you like they do at most other tournaments.)
