In rough percentages the NYT has about 4% and the Wash. Times has about
2% of the available population reading them. Pretty low, huh?

Greater than 95% of the available population reads the paper in those
two areas. I wonder if that holds in other markets as well.

Pathetic! I suppose the rest get their news from the 24/7 yak-a-thons
on TV!! :)

If not, that says something definitive about newspaper readers. The
NYT has a circulation of 928,000 and is generally considered the most
influential newspaper in the world. The Wash. Times has a circulation
of 102,000 in a metro area of 5 million.

Circulation has nothing to do with bias.

So perceived bias has nothing to do with people's decisions to buy or
not buy a particular paper?
