I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally don't think there is anything wrong with being conservative. There are many things--the focus on individual achievement, fiscal responsibility, small government--that I genuinely admire. There are many things about it that I do not agree with. Regardless I do not think there is anything wrong with people who disagree with me. I will jump on people if they fail to make a rational defense. But hey, this is Usenet. As Bert says, it's a diversion.
