That seems silly because there is undoubtedly a possibility the player B ball may be diverted into the hole when it may otherwise have missed it, and it would be counted as holed. Rule 22 exists in part to prevent this happening, in the interests of the rest of the field. Player A is expected to lift his ball and/or player B is expected to request that the ball be lifted.....if neither happens it could be construed that both players have agreed to waive the rule, and could be subject to disqualification by the Committee. cheers david
