While the rest of America is busy asking for bail-outs, Hollywood just
had its best box office year in history. We should all be so lucky to
have the "problems" of Hollywood.

You are quite correct. I should have said that it illustrates the problem
with the American public. Hollywood must appeal to the lowest common
denominator to make money and they have become masterful at it as the spoof
movie trailer suggests.

I don't really care one way or the other because as you allude, they are not
getting bailouts; they do earn what they make in a free market. More
succinctly, If I don't care for what they produce (and I don't care for 99%
of it), I don't have to buy it. Contrast that with many other institutions
which I must fund whether I approve or not.
