I didn't say it stopped me from anything, just that it
tells me how to run my life! :)

Seriously, I wasn't even arguing with you. I was just
providing a data point. I seriously do not even begin
to feel like the government tells me how to run my
life except for legal paternalism type stuff like that.

I like that "legal paternalism."

If it didn't cost me so much money I would move from one end of my
county to the other end of the county. This would put me closer to my
kids high school. The bus ride is 45 minutes each way, they pass 6 or so
high schools on the way. But, when your kids are in a magnet program
what are you going to do?

Back to moving closer to the high school. It would cost me about $20,000
in taxes to move closer to my kids high school. That $20,000 is just in
real-estate transfer taxes and property taxes. Government affects your
life in many ways.
