From: IcUrdazedandconfused on 12 Jan 2008 08:50 I was looking at the Sony to see how Tommy Gainey is doing, and I see he finished even, and is labeled as MDF, above the cut line. But, if I'm not mistaken, I don't see him with a Sat tee time... What does that mean?

It stands for Made Cut - Did Not Finish. There are new rules this year for the case where "top 70 and ties" will create a very large field (like the Sony this week). Made Cut - Did Not Finish. They've fallen victim to a new rule. They didn't play fast enough, so they don't play the weekend.

I think I understand the why they are doing this, but it's just weird to me to see a player listed as making the cut, but not playing. Also, what the heck with "made cut - did not finish"? Should be "made cut - were not allowed to finish" I can see why John Daly would be a bit steamed with the new rule....... |
