There are widows and widowers out there with nobody, Bert. When somebody's
spouse dies, then their SS pension goes with them. Look....you know I'm no
bleeding heart but at the same time, we are richest country on the planet.
Our society should be taking care of those who cannot care for themselves.
Working age slackers.....let them starve. Elderly people....different
story. Part D eliminates some of their struggle.

Becuase your friends and neighbours are required to pay into the
insurance at a rate that allows for your "free" meds. Why can't you
buy your own meds? It is not a proper role for insurance anyways.
Insurance is for some catastrophic event, not $6K or so a year worth
of health care...year after year.....

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Rob,

It's the unpaid catastrophic events that drive up costs. Bad pregnancies,
heart attack, stroke, you name it. Routine maintenence or Rx claims like
John experiences is not much of a factor in insurance premiums.

In all your writings, you still haven't come up with a system that forces
everybody to buy catastrophic coverage. Also, you are under the illusion
that a 5k deductible plan is cheap? It ain't.....and it will not be cheap
until everybody joins.

Explain to me, please, how relying on insurance to pay for our meds is
a burden on our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens.

You are not a burden. You are a responsible, insured American.

I have no choice, and you know it. I have to pay into medicare, even
though I am convinced there will be nothing left of it when I retire.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

And when it's time to collect, you will.
