There was a tree on the left side of the fairway near the tee of the 9th hole. They removed it sometime recently since it was hollow inside and in danger of falling over. My father and I were chatting with one of the grounds crew who was there when the cut it down. He said that they found hundreds of balls inside the tree that had been hit directly into the hollow!
