Are you insane? How the hell would I put out an RFP for someone to
come clean my house one day a week? My house is not a government
agency.

Actually....Bert is probably right, but in the real world, there are laws
that all must pay attention to and some that are rarely enforced, like front
license plates.

In Washington state, people who buy stuff in Oregon (no sales tax), are
suppose to declare it and pay sales tax on it.

Yeah.....right.

So John....I wouldn't lose any sleep over this. Just don't run for office.

No, Greg. Bert is not probably right.

It's apparently true that by paying my housekeeper in cash I'm running
afoul of the IRS. But Bert's assertion that I should have posted an
RFP (request for proposals), as government agencies do when they need
private sector services is ridiculous.

Surely you got a couple quotes, before hiring someone?

Are you going to start reporting to the IRS? Are you going to complete form
