Your comments about solo golf are worth way more than that... couldn't
have said it better. My grandfather began teaching me about 80 years
ago and that old Scotsman ingrained in me that the real beauty of the
game was the "you against the course" theme, plus enjoying the
surroundings, irregardless of how many in the playing group.

Any betting, group, or intergroup contests were a totally separate
entity from that.
